Driving Instructions

The Long Hill Township Library provides both regular and large print books, magazines and newspapers, audio cassettes, videos, reference services, and library programs for residents.  The library currently owns 47,000 volumes and has subscriptions to 175 periodicals.

Our lending capacity is greatly expanded by simplified inter-library loans arranged on-line through the Morris Automated Information Network.  M.A.I.N. is a county-wide consortium of 36 libraries.  To learn more, visit the Using Us page.

The library has 15 public workstations with internet access.  Many premium databases are available at all stations.  Free catalog computer classes are given by the Reference Librarian, Bob Nelson.  Please call him at 647-2088 for an appointment.  You will learn how to access the catalog, magazine databases, and the Internet. Access to the premium databases and to inter-library lending is available to all library card holders from their homes via their own internet connections.

Close-captioned cable TV is available at the library, courtesy of Patriot Media and the Friends of the Library. We feature the following channels:
  • CNN Headline News
  • Knowledge TV
  • C-Span
  • The Weather Channel
  • CNBC Stock Quotes
  • CNN

    In 2003, the Library
    • circulated 90,539 items,
    • purchased 3,054 new materials,
    • answered 3.070 questions,
    • enrolled 369 new patrons and
    • offered 173 programs with 2,729 attendees.
The library is staffed by three full-time, 11 part-time, and 6 volunteer workers.  A Board of Trustees oversees the operation of the library, supporting the librarians with planning and setting policy.

The Friends of the Library is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to support the Long Hill Township Public Library.  The Friends have, in the past, acquired funds to purchase many computer hardware items for use in the library.  Read more about the Friends of the Library, and join them.

Icon that says: New  The Long Hill Township Historical Society maintains its collection of maps, books, photographs, audio tapes, and artifacts, in the Training Room at the Library.  Members of the Society are available in the Library every Wednesday between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to assist interested community members.  A list of the holdings is on file at the Library, but this material is NOT catalogued in the Library's catalog system.

We take our obligations about privacy, security and protection of children seriously.
